How to Prevent Ransomware and Malware Infections

March 20, 2019zoharBlogNo Comments

Ransomware can literally disrupt a whole organization and all of its plants within seconds and it wouldn’t be wrong to say that one of the biggest threats on the internet is ransomware. Cyber thieves and attackers are lurking around the internet all the time and are always looking to attack businesses, organizations and even individuals to get ransom money. What these attackers do is that they encrypt all of your data on your PC, they lock you out of your personal files and other valuable data and then they extort money from you in return for the access and decryption key.

If you look up on the internet, you will see almost everyone warning you about ransomware attacks because these attacks are on a spike right now and anyone can easily fall victim to them. You might be one of the most innocent internet users who just love to play online games and watch YouTube videos, but guess what? even you are at risk of a ransomware attack. Isn’t it terrifying that all of sudden you just get logged out of your own PC and then there’s comes to this message on your screen where a ransom amount is demanded? Well, it definitely is terrifying and you need to take some safety measures to make sure that this never happens to you.

Prevention of Ransomware

You can prevent ransomware attacks easily, but you won’t ever find a solution that will guarantee you 100% protection. So, do keep this thing in your mind before moving forward.

As far as protection is concerned, here are some measures you can take for your data’s safety:

Backup all your valuable data

This will not only help you in case a ransomware attack occurs, in fact, backing up your data can come in handy in a lot of other situations too. If you ever accidentally delete your data, you can at least restore it on your PC from a local drive or the cloud. In case of an attack, even when your data gets encrypted, you can still restore the one you have saved already.

Anti-virus

You need to install anti-virus software in your computer right now because a strong software will immediately detect a threat and a malicious site or an email and it will block it right away. This way you will at least be 90% safe, but again there are 10% chances of falling victim to a ransomware variant so don’t forget creating a backup of your data.

Update your software

For the prevention of ransomware attacks, just make sure to update your software and your system because sometimes outdated software running on your PC can be more prone to the attacks and viruses.

We don’t guarantee you 100% success with these steps, but yes, we do assure you that using the above-mentioned tips can help you in protecting yourself a little from the attacks out there.
