February 5, 2019zoharBlogNo Comments

There’s absolutely no doubt in the fact that the internet has opened up a lot of opportunities for all of us and it’s just the best in all the possible ways. But where the internet is a blessing for us, there are some pitfalls to it too. Most importantly, the dark side of the internet is something every person should be scared of. Yes, you too!

In this writeup, we are going to discuss a bit about online data security and what possibly could be done to secure your valuable data and yourself from the online hijackers and all the ransomware viruses that exist today.

Right now, if you search the internet for the trending dangers and threats lurking around, you will probably come across the word “ransomware” everywhere because it’s one big threat to all organizations, companies, and even all the individuals across the globe.

All of a sudden, you just get locked out of your system and your computer is no longer accessible to you and on top of it, all you can see is a ransom demanding message that asks you to pay a certain hundred thousand dollars to get the access back. Isn’t this all just plain horrible? Well, this is exactly what ransomware families do and you need to be careful because it’s getting quite common nowadays especially in the US.

One cannot deny the fact that almost every individual has personal data stored on their PC’s. There are videos, personal pictures and sometimes there are some documents that really need to be kept all safe and protected. Long story short, every single individual reading this article at the moment should be worried about keeping his/her data safe.

To help you and to prevent any such instance in the future, here are some of the best ways to keep your files safe from ransomware:

Use Browser Extensions

You see, ransomware attacks occur when you open up a website that has a malicious script on it. That’s where all the problem begins so the first thing you need to do is to install some recommended browser extensions so that you can keep yourself safe. Don’t worry because there are a lot of extensions out there for all leading browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.

Antivirus Program

At the end of the day, a ransomware attack is just a virus, right? So, what you should be doing is that you are supposed to download and install a renowned and strong antivirus program on your system. This program will block all the malicious sites, hence, you won’t have to worry about the safety of your data ever.

Opt for An Ad-Blocker

Sometimes pop-up ads are the ones to blame for the virus in your system. In order to get rid of this risk, you can install an ad-blocker on your computer and keep your data safe and secure.

These are some of the best ways to avoid ransomware attacks. Hence, use any one of the above-mentioned ways to keep your information and valuable data safe.
